Scope and Contents
Contains correspondence between the College and various institutions and individuals requesting information on, or memories of, Dr. Harper and his family. The primary correspondents featured in the collection are the Chautauqua institution, the Lake Zurich Golf Club, Muskingum College, and the Ridge Historical Society. Examples of materials that these institutions donated to Harper College include pamphlets and booklets; memorabilia, including signatures, obituaries, and various publications; information on the Morgan Park / Beverly Hills / Washington Heights neighborhoods where Harper lived; an oral history interview with members of the Lake Zurich Golf Club discussing the Harper family; and political cartoons documenting opinions of Dr. Harper and his administration. This series also contains correspondence among various departments and offices at Harper College to create a room dedicated to preserving and displaying artifacts from Dr. Harper’s life, including architectural drawings of the proposed room and booklets on the proper display and care of artifacts.
